Mind the bump! Watching your body change is an exciting part of pregnancy, but new research has found it’s not just your bump that’s growing. And we’re not talking about going up a cup size either! Scientists have found that as your bump develops, your brain increases your sense of personal space – the area around you that you feel is yours, and shouldn’t be invaded by strangers. ‘Peripersonal space is considered a “safety bubble”, and it’s possible that the observed expansion of this in late pregnancy might be aimed at protecting the abdomen during the mother’s daily interactions,’ says lead author Dr Flavia Cardini, from Anglia Ruskin University. ‘So, as the mother’s bump grows, in effect the expanded peripersonal space is the brain’s way of ensuring danger is kept at…

louise pentland where do i start?

You know the saying, ‘practice makes perfect’? Well I don’t think it was written by a parent of multiple children! Let me explain… In April 2011, I gave birth to a beautiful green-eyed baby girl and called her Darcy. She was the apple of my eye, and was dreamy. She slept well (I was that friend who says, ‘Wow doesn’t yours sleep well? never give up hope!

Here is our little princess, Ayala Hope. She was born in Spain in January, and she’s almost four months in this picture. I had to send a photo of her because she is our little miracle baby. We had tried to have a baby for four years, and had lots of heartbreak along the way. We were on a year-long waiting list for IVF – but then along came our little miracle princess, naturally! We are so lucky and grateful for what we have. Ayala Hope is just a dream come true. I want to share our story in the hope that it will inspire other parents in a similar situation.
