And we’ve packed this month’s mag full of ways you can make this your greatest Christmas yet, and create lots of wonderful ways to enjoy the time with your baby. Giving back! Gifts are an exciting part of Christmas, whatever age you are, but the festive period presents the ideal opportunity to teach your toddler about giving as well as receiving. Why not introduce some sweet traditions your tot can be involved in to help those less fortunate, such as filling up a ‘giving back sack’ with old toys your child is too old for, and gifting them to a children’s charity? Alternatively, the two of you could make up a shoebox of small toys, school supplies and toiletries to be sent to needy children overseas through Operation Christmas Child. I’ve been beyond excited to write this month’s column, because it contains two of my favourite things in all the world. Nope, not my children: Christmas and Lists! To kick Christmas off with a bang, each year we try to do something special at…

christmas magic

Here’s my daughter Felicity with the Christmas quilt I made. We have a tradition of reading ’Twas The Night Before Christmas snuggled up under it. The book is as familiar to me as any nursery rhyme, and fills me with nostalgia and happy memories – every Christmas Eve my mum used to read it to me and my sister, and years later she continued the tradition with my sister’s two children. Four years ago she passed away, and never got the chance to read it to Felicity (now two). But I was determined to keep the tradition alive. Christmas Eve can be hectic, and that moment of calm is so special.
