Mum knows best With masses of parenting help books hitting the shelves each year, you might assume all of our mum-knowledge comes from the pages of a book. But according to new research, most pregnant women still rely on their own mums for guidance. Associate professor of sociology Danielle Bessett, from the University of Cincinnati, performed in-depth interviews with pregnant women and their mothers and discovered that, while self-help guides may argue that relying on our mums can mean outdated advice, the emotional boost we get from turning to her outweighs any negatives. M&B LOVES Thoughtful planning We could probably all do with a little more mindfulness in our everyday lives, and this beautiful 2020 planner will help you channel it. louise pentland where do i start?

You know those (rare) people who love Monday’s and relish a list of New Year’s resolutions? That’s me! I love a fresh start, and I love setting myself and my family goals. I know this sounds super intense, but I promise it’s not. Your family goals don’t have to be huge, they don’t have to cost anything, and you don’t have to only make them on January 1st. You can just…

way to go, mama!

This is me and my baby, Rupert, when he was six months old at my graduation. I fell pregnant at the start of my final year of a degree in Early Childhood Studies, and I was determined to finish it. It was hard, but I knew I just needed to keep working until my final deadline and then I could snuggle Ru as much as I wanted. With support from my partner, Kevin, I completed it, and I’m so proud of myself and really happy with my 2.1 result. Now I’m enjoying having the time to chase Ru around the living room; he’s crawling and loves exploring. His favourite thing at the moment is sitting on our shoulders!
