dandelion days

DRAW A DANDY LION Together, draw a big lion’s face on a piece of card, talking about what features he should have. Finding a picture of a lion helps, as you can point to an eye or ear and then ask your toddler to draw one on your picture. Squeeze a line of glue around the outside of the face. Then gather up a pile of dandelions, pick off the yellow petals, and stick them around the face to create a bright yellow mane. SEE IT IN SLO-MO Set the slo-mo option on your phone’s video, or download the free app Slow Motion Video FX , and record your little one blowing the seeds from a dandelion clock. She’ll be fascinated to watch what happens! Try using the Boomerang feature for Instagram, too,…

Before we got together, I’d jet off to experience exciting new destinations and cultures every chance I got – at last count I’d been to 60 countries across Asia, Central and South America, and spent two years living in Japan. I agreed that it would be amazing to travel together and make new memories, but both of us had busy careers and there never seemed a good time to take an extended…

MEET THE EXPERT Simon Hooper is a parenting instagrammer (@ father_of_daughters) and dad of four When I was a kid, preparing for Father’s Day involved lovingly crafting a card, making breakfast under the close supervision of my mum, and generally trying to make my dad happy by doing what he wanted. Once I’d left home, it was even easier: whacking a shop-bought card in the post, and hoping it would reach my parent’s house before the weekend, was all the effort I needed to make. But then I had my girls. Four of them, to be precise. And Father’s Day suddenly took on a whole new meaning. It’s a day where I genuinely feel appreciated for the work that I put into being the best dad I can be, for slaving away…
