meet peopletv’s chatter host!

Welcome to the People team! How did you get into the entertainment industry? I was born in Honduras and grew up in New Orleans. I started working at a countdown show—like a local TRL—that got me into the business. When I moved to Dallas, I got hired at a radio station. An opportunity came for me in Boston, and I was in college at the time; my mentor said, “You can always go back to school.” I went, and it was the best decision I ever made. From there, you got gigs on BET and Entertainment Tonight. I had some amazing experiences, from playing football with Mark Wahlberg in Hong Kong to going in a hot-air balloon in Dubai—things I never would’ve dreamed of. Who was your most memorable celeb encounter? Barack Obama! He popped…

‘Congratulations to the happy couple!’Daphne S. via people.com Joanna Gaines I love Chip and Joanna Gaines. I will miss Fixer Upper tremendously, but I know they’re doing great things. Congratulations! You have a beautiful family. Vicki C. via people.com I love that Chip isn’t afraid to be goofy and silly. And you can tell he totally adores Joanna. I will miss these two, but there are always reruns! Lisa Cahoy via people.com I’ve loved this show—but I completely respect “family first.” Thank you for all the laughs, inspiration and love you brought us every week. Congratulations on the little guy to come! Patricia U. via people.com Carol Burnett I had no idea Carol Burnett lost her daughter to cancer. My heart goes out to her. To lose a child has to be gut wrenching. Karen Mann via people.com I love reading…

michael skakel goes free

In the latest twist in a four-decades-old murder case, the Connecticut supreme court has overturned the conviction of Michael Skakel, the Kennedy cousin charged with killing his Greenwich, Conn., neighbor—Martha Moxley, 15—with a golf club in 1975. Skakel, now 57, was convicted in 2002 and sentenced to 20 years to life in prison. He served 11 years before the court overturned the conviction in 2013, citing poor representation by his trial attorney—only to overturn that decision in 2016 and then reverse itself again on May 4. Martha’s brother John Moxley, 59, calls the latest decision “disappointing” but says no matter what happens, Skakel will have to live with his conscience. “Michael will be in jail the rest of his life in one way or another. And on his last day,…
