one in a million!

Standing in front of the Priest at my Holy Communion, an older boy came and stood directly in front of me. ‘Will you go on a date with me?’ Derek asked politely. Gobsmacked, staring at the Priest, I had no idea what I should say to him. I hadn’t seen him before, but he was gorgeous, so later on, far away from watchful eyes, I happily agreed. And for our first date, we went on a long walk, far out into the fields, when suddenly the high heavens opened. Derek was the perfect gentleman and not long after, we were an item. He was my first love and he always made me smile. And a few years later on 27 October 1962 we tied the knot. I couldn’t believe how lucky I’d got and three years later…

DID YOU KNOW? It’s the most romantic day of the year, but how much do you really know about Valentine’s Day? We’ve rounded up some fun facts to keep you entertained… • Most women won’t spend even half the amount of money on men as they expect to be spent on them. • Women are more inclined to buy cards than men for this romantic day, while men prefer to buy flowers and chocolates. • There is an increase in the sales of pregnancy tests during March, thanks to all those wonderful interludes on Valentine’s Day. • Around 110 million Valentine’s roses are sold two to three days leading up to 14 February, mostly red of course. Stood in the bathroom brushing my teeth, I saw my boyfriend’s face appear in the mirror behind me. ‘Alright babe?’ I mumbled, spitting toothpaste into the sink. Without saying a word, he came up behind me, wrapped his arms around my waist and started nuzzling into my neck. ‘What’s gotten into you tonight?’ I giggled, swivelling my body around to face him. ‘Been a long day,’ he whispered, reaching his hands down to my pyjama bottoms. ‘I just want you.’ Dan, 30, and I have been together for nearly three years, and it’s safe to say, our sex life has never gone cold. A fact - given Dan’s job - that would probably surprise many people. Dan is a gay porn star. When I met him back in December 2016, he was working at the gym as a personal…

Carefully fastening a bow, I made the finishing touches to my little girl’s hair. ‘All done,’ I smiled, watching her face light up as she saw herself in the mirror. Twirling around in her pretty frock, she was beaming. It was September 2013, and my daughter Hannah, then seven, had been given an important job - a flower girl at her dad’s wedding. Their dad Chris, now 55, and I had met in early 1995 when I was working as a nurse at the…
