I was lucky enough to grow up in England’s beautiful South-West, and we often toured Devon, Cornwall and Dorset in our Sprite. I know many of you also love this region, so to celebrate the (almost) start of the season, this issue, we’ve brought you travel inspiration from some of the region’s most stunning areas. Where are we? Valley of Rocks, North Devon Why tour here? Formed during the Ice Age, this U-shaped dry valley is half a mile west of Lynton, from where you can look out over the valley and towards the Bristol Channel. The combination of high cliffs and magnificent rock formations make this a popular stretch of the South West Coast Path. It’s also an accessible and easy walk. Find out more about the Valley of Rocks and Exmoor National Park on p26. Don’t miss… The herd of feral goats that have made their home in and around this wonderful part of Exmoor. ‘The valley was visited by both Wordsworth and Coleridge, and RD Blackmore set part of his classic novel Lorna Doone here’…

★ Star letter ★ In your recent article (issue 449) regarding the change for younger drivers concerning trailer weight, nowhere is it mentioned that this only applies to Great Britain, not the whole of the UK. Drivers like myself in Northern Ireland will still have to undergo a B+E test in order to tow a combined weight over 3500kg. I wonder how many drivers in Northern Ireland are unaware this is the case, and what the implications will be for drivers from Great Britain, visiting Northern Ireland, whose physical licences have not yet been updated to reflect the change in legislation? If they are stopped by the police over here, will the defence of the law having changed in England, Scotland and Wales carry much weight if the licence doesn’t show B+E entitlement? Andrew…
