There was a time when tractor models were all about horsepower. Nice and simple. In fact I think I can remember most of the models in the Ford lineup from the early 1980s. Today, though, it’s a very different matter, with me having to resort to the manufacturer’s website to recall all the model names and ranges. Which, to be fair, could just be part of the inevitable ageing process. Or, then again, could it be down to firms simply offering more ranges to satisfy the demands of today’s customers? Take the new Fendt 700 Gen 7, for instance. With 203-283hp and weighing in at about 9.0t, it looks to be a direct replacement for the 800 Vario, which it would be fair to say has been a little hit…
