Soon you’ll be able to buy a computer and get change from a tenner. Californian company Next Thing is seeking investment for its C.H.I.P. micro-computer, a rival to the phenomenally successful Raspberry Pi. In its most basic form C.H.I.P. will cost only $9 (around £6).
C.H.I.P. is a single-board computer, measuring just 2.3 inches by 1.5 inches, and comes with a 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM and 4GB of storage.
It has Wi-Fi built in, plus Bluetooth 4, USB and microUSB ports and a 3.5mm audio output. Like the Raspberry Pi, it runs Linux and connects to a PC monitor, mouse and keyboard for basic computing tasks.
