COFFEE REDUCES REDNESS An extra espresso might work wonders for skin. A major study has found that increasing caffeine consumption can reduce the risk of rosacea, a condition that makes skin flushed and red. The study, based on observations of 82,000 women, found that those who drank four cups of coffee a day noticed the best results, with a 23 percent lower risk of rosacea than those who drank none. Interestingly, these effects were only seen in caffeinated coffee – decaffeinated coffee, fizzy cola drinks and tea were all found to be ineffective. Make ours an Americano, please! Lips are particularly prone to dryness as, unlike the rest of our skin, they don’t produce sebum – skin’s natural moisturiser. While lip balms can be a useful tool, helping to lock in moisture that can evaporate from the skin’s surface, many are made with irritants that make a parched pout worse.
