welcome

erlingur.einarsson@futurenet.com Less is more, or so we’re often told. While in some cases this is certainly true – who doesn’t loathe the overly edited, almost distorted model shots in many fashion ads – it’s definitely not a universal truth. In fact, sometimes more is more. And that’s what our feature is all about this month. Focusing on layers and filters, we explore the many exciting ways we can take these versatile tools, push them to the very limit, and see just how creative we can get with them! For those craving the subtler flavours on Photoshop’s extensive menu, we have an expert tutorial on mastering Camera Raw, as well as loads of tutorials spanning a wide range of styles and tools. Also, make sure to check out our reviews, interviews…

Prove it!Next issue, the theme is MUSIC. We don’t mind how you incorporate it into your image, just be as creative as you possibly can! Head to www.photoshopcreative.co.ukand simply…

Charis’s portfolio has over 1,000,000 views online, and this tribute to Stan Lee is one of our favourites. The vibrancy and detail of the piece is stunning, and it’s a great example of how to create an effective collage. There’s nothing more inspiring than surfing the internet and seeing what other artists are creating, and we encourage you to do so. Here are some of our favourite pictures that caught our attention recently, from some of the world’s most exciting artists and designers. Charis Tsevis www.tsevis.com This is a mosaic portrait of Stan Lee, the legendary ‘father’ of so many superheroes. I created this for Hollywood Reporter magazine. This mosaic illustration is made with some custom-developed techniques combining Synthetik Studio Artist and Adobe Photoshop. Many artists use…

Esther Byrt photoshopcreative.co.uk/user/esbyrt A water layer was clipped to the bottle layer and adjusted for colour and opacity. I finished with a dodge and burn layer, and used ON1 software to give the piece a dark glow and then final adjustments were made with Camera Raw. Alena Lazareva photoshopcreative.co.uk/user/Alena%20Lazareva Mermaids and fairies are my favourite characters. To create the picture I used Photoshop and a Wacom tablet. I like bright colours, so I decided to make the whole picture a beautiful blue with different light effects, gentle romantic clouds and a beautiful mermaid. Raqee S Najmuldeen photoshopcreative.co.uk/user/Abulrook Thissimple image is made of two different pictures, a cage and the sky. The birds were made using brushes. I played with blend modes to show the texture for…
