welcome

Email editor@volkswagencamper.co.uk Address Editor, VW Camper & Commercial, Jazz Publishing The Old School Higher Kinnerton Chester CH4 9AJ www.volkswagencamper.co.uk R The nights are drawing in, another year draws to a close and thoughts are turning to Christmas which will soon be upon us! I am looking forward to seeing what VW related goodies Santa has brought me this year, though I suspect my wishes for a T6 DSG two tone California or a fully equipped Split Fire Truck will go unheeded and I will get VW bus motif socks! Take a photo of what VW bus goodies you get this year and send it in to us – there’s a prize waiting for the most eclectic mix! And whilst many of our buses tend to hibernate over winter (along with owners) we’d…

it’s low, but it’s not slow.

“ A fter some negotiation, I ended up trading some work for the single cab!” Troy Story is certainly a bloke who knows how to barter and part of the deal was that they’d make the pick up road worthy. They replaced the missing bumpers, the rear apron, the wheel wells and got the engine running again. “When I picked it up from them, I was able to drive it home and start work customising it to make it my own. My first impressions were that it was very solid. I could see past the orange, high rise exterior and was able to see that it would soon become the radically lowered single cab that I had envisioned. The ‘single’ was about 95% original sheet metal, the only rust was two…

spectacularly original caravette

P ete runs VW Campers UK in Hockley, Essex, importing, renovating and selling Volkswagen campers. Back in 2012 he received a telephone call from a Subaru dealer in Middlesborough, asking for his advice on how much a ‘73 bay could be worth as one of their lifelong customers was part-exchanging their bus for a car. I was cruising along the motorway and let go of the steering wheel, the Bay continued straight ahead arrow straight. Pete asked for a little more information, received some photographs and suddenly the WOW factor kicked in! “I telephoned the dealer and said irrespective of what they wanted to do with the bay, I’d like to purchase it,” he recalls. “A couple of days later I was on my way to Middlesborough, keeping my fingers crossed that…

After topping up the oil to midway between the markers on the dipstick, I let it settle for a bit then fired up the engine. All went well till I heard a popping sound. I now have oil dripping out from above the area I serviced on the left side coming from about the height of the crankcase cover. I…

camper mail

Email editor@volkswagencamper.co.uk Address Camper Mail, VW Camper & Commercial, The Old School Higher Kinnerton Chester CH4 9AJ Future Feature? Hi David, My father in-law recently had his T4 featured in VW Bus T4 & T5. Now I feel the pressure is on to get my bay in a magazine too! It was originally used by the Austrian army as a microbus, then sold to someone in Hungary, who painted it silver and metallic orange. When I got hold of it, I converted it to a camper, did a mild lowering job and replaced the original engine which was running on 3 cylinders. I then managed to get hold of a Devon pop top and fitted it myself (the scariest thing I’ve ever done). Sam Elwell Santa Barbara Look? Dear Ed, I recently took this photograph of a…
