welcome

Email editor@volkswagencamper.co.uk Address Editor, VW Camper & Commercial, Jazz Publishing The Old School Higher Kinnerton Chester CH4 9AJ www.volkswagencamper.co.uk I just love the combination of summer colour and bling on this month’s Welcome image – watch out for an upcoming feature! I was really looking forwards to our annual pilgrimage to Busfest this year checking out all the lovely buses but it was not to be, due to a sudden onslaught of a nasty virus in the Eccles household. Oh well, we still have Brighton Breeze to look forward to! I did have a look at my usual forums to see what was going on, but it seems the world of instant Facebook is slowly killing off the ways forums used to operate. Now I am definitely not a Facebook person, quite apart…

turkis green wow!

It caught my eye at Busfest, although at the time the owner wasn’t looking to sell. But shortly afterwards and much to my surprise, my partner Clare saw the very same pick up advertised on ebay!” Simon Carey bought the single cab from Wales, over three hundred miles away from his home just inside the M25. With a friend, they drove over to bring it back in convoy, but around halfway into the journey, “I gradually became aware that the brakes weren’t quite all they should have been. I suspected that the master cylinder may have had a leak… “And to be honest, I wasn’t actually sure if we would make it home safely. “Following my friend rapidly became a bit of a challenge as I wasn’t sure when the brakes were going…

camper calling

Back for its second year, Camper Calling once again took place in the spectacular grounds of Ragley Hall in Worcestershire. The camping areas appeared to have more than doubled in size, it is great to see what is essentially a brand new show doing so well. It’s less of a Volkswagen event and more of a proper music festival. There was a great line up of bands, including headliners on the main Lakeside stage; The Lightning Seeds (who threw a proper Diva strop on Friday when the microphone was playing up), Reef on the Saturday and the brilliant Cast who closed the weekend. There was also a second ‘Freshly Squeezed’ stage which featured some proper up and coming acts. I think that my favourite band over there was a curious duo…

the fire bay!

Denis Cunliffe was formerly a mechanical engineer and after a hard day’s work would start to build his own stuff whilst dreaming of leaving the day job behind and working on VW’s full time. His partner Toni, and son Harry were both very supportive and so one day they took the plunge, ditched the regular employment and put their collective future in the hands of the rust gods and made the leap. As a fan of VW’s from the age of 18 when he bought his first Polo, (his Dad wasn’t keen on them so he had to save up and use his own money to do it). His love affair with the peoples car continued with some Mk2 Golfs and Jetta’s but it was a trip to the Run…

bus doctor

Got a problem or a query? Email info@volkswagencamper.co.uk Address Bus Doctor, VW Camper & Commercial, The Old School Higher Kinnerton Chester CH4 9AJ Press Ups Dear Bus Doctor, I’m about to attempt to change the torsion bar ball joints, but all the feedback I get is negative. Everyone is telling me to take it to a garage. I’ve got the ‘C’ clamp press tool so is it possible? Or am I mad? And is there really no chance of achieving the leverage or pressure required with a long bar? Kevin Hunt I seriously doubt your press will be up to the job, as you need a 20 ton press to do the job. With the right press the job only takes a couple of minutes. So I would definitely say ‘take it to a…
