welcome

www.volkswagencamper.co.ukSometimes one has to wonder at the ways in which the VW Transporter has been depicted, as in this month’s Welcome image of a Bay Ambulance specifically designed for baby emergencies and complete with incubator. Quite why the photographer chose to show this being demonstrated to a bride and groom is a bit of a mystery – is it supposed to be reassuring? Or is it a soft way to show that emergency services are well prepared for your future if need be? Whatever the reason … it’s one of those strange shots that leave one wondering about what the story was….It’s been a very, very long time since I have been to a music festival let alone camped over at one, but Camper Calling surprised me at how much…

do it once, do it properly!

The Retrosound stereo looks old, but can control mp3’s etcIt was September 2002, whilst working in Germany and missing Vanfest, that Stephen Flanagan found this bus online, “I hopped on the train down to Lausanne in Switzerland. I bought it, sorted some export plates and picked up my father-in-law from Geneva Airport Saturday lunchtime, and we were back home Sunday morning. Obviously we’d filled the empty bus with wine and beer on the way home.“It had come straight from the Swiss Army after they’d taken it out of service in 1997 with just 29,000 km from new. Untouched and never welded apart from the mounting points for roof aerials. It was far & away the straightest, most honest bus I had ever seen!“The radio equipment had been stripped out leaving…

behind the scenes: air dubbers vw workshop

Take a closer look!1. Lined up outside the listed barn.Mark Sketchley spent M seven years training to be a Vauxhall mechanic, but we won’t hold that against him as he left and decided to start his own Volkswagen business - Air Dubbers VW Workshop. He even got his mate in the royal family to help with his start up costs via a Prince’s Trust grant! Mind you, he did have to go on a business course which involved budgets, cashflow, marketing etc. before he could claim the cash. Air Dubbers has been growing nicely ever since. “My dad bought me my first Beetle when I was just 16 and training to be a mechanic”, remembers Mark. The idea was that he should restore it and get it on the road…

…the air cooled side of the street.

Cutting a dash on any campsite; a coordinated bay and an Eriba Puck.Colour matched dash and lots of lovely flowers. We join her at the very W start to find out if the slow lane is the way forward. “One evening just after Brighton Breeze 2015, walking back from the pub, with the Carter brothers, Coolflo, we had all been talking about the amazing amount of fun that the air-cooled community have and they persuaded me it would be a great idea to sell my award winning, pale turquoise T4 and buy a late bay! I put an advert on Piston heads and wondered if I was making the right decision. There was no time to think as it was gone in 24 hours.“After looking at quite a few buses with…
