from work to play

Built in 1973 as an ambulance (as shown by the chassis number with the prefix 27), it was one of the new style Late Bay models with the revamped front end. It was originally exported to, and used in, Estonia prior to being imported to the UK in 2013. At this time it was painted in the Brilliant Orange but is likely this had been done earlier although some emergency vehicles did use this colour. The new owner swapped the engine for a Subaru Flat 4 2 litre Legacy version, and carried out all the necessary modifications. He also fitted a power steering system, sourced from a Vauxhall Corsa. Dubs Collective Party in the Park II 20th-22nd September 2019, Himley Hall, Dudley, W. Midlands Last year’s inaugural Party in the Park, organised by Dubs Collective, a Facebook group for all types of VW vehicles and VW groups, was a resounding success, as was their Wonderland meet earlier this year. Music and VWs are at the heart of the show – this year themed around the 80s. Friday night sees tribute bands to well-known artists The Police, Spandau Ballet, The Human League, Blondie, The Ska 45’s, U2 and OMD, whilst on Saturday the line-up includes original 80’s stars Toyah, Jaki Graham, The Lambrettas, Hazell Dean and Neville Staple. Sunday is also Quadrophenia day, a 40-year celebration of the iconic Mods & Rockers movie: DJ Drew Stansall from ‘The Specials’ presents the movie, Who’s…
