welcome

We have had a few glorious days over the last couple of weeks which have given me, and I’m sure a few of you, a bit of time to get out and give the van a good clean and to sort out any little issues ready for the camping and show season. Its MOT time for both our buses this month, so it was good to have a good look over them both and check the normal things before they go to the garage for their MOTs. Fingers crossed they both fly though the test. I mentioned in the last issue that I had signed up for the Bath Half Marathon, well its done. I set myself a time of getting around in two & half hours, well I smashed it…

Calypso 2017 Bold not old Jon Freemantle of Calypso Campers has been in touch to tell us about his plans for 2017. Jon has been running Calypso for eighteen years and his company has successfully made the jump from exclusively aircooled bus interiors to mainly water-cooled bus interiors. It’s easy to pigeonhole Calypso as an old school conversion company, but looking at the picture you can see that they are more than capable of creating contemporary interiors too. Unusually Jon doesn’t have a ‘range” of designs, he prefers to discuss with the customer their tastes and requirements, before drawing up a unique design and or layout for each one. Jon’s plans for this year include continuing to develop his portfolio and visiting a few shows including his annual pilgrimage to Busfest in…

There is always a huge VW club presence at Vanwest and this year will be no exception. There is a full programme of entertainment lined up with live bands performing in the VW Bus Magazine sponsored marquee, the sensational Gangeo DJ booth housed…

This month we bring you this awesome Westfalia California Generation T4 from Belgium photographed whilst in the UK at Busfest at the end of last year's show season. We don’t tend to photograph vehicles at shows, but this was the perfect location to photograph Pascal’s camper, seeing as Pascal travels from his base in North East Belgium all over Europe with his buddies to the different shows and meets. (Check out the six years of Camper Jam stickers on the windscreen!) We all love heading over to the continent for a road trip, whether that is for a holiday or a show, it’s great to see that the UK is also drawing in crowds from further afield. Anyway, enough about my love for heading across the channel, it’s time to find…

Irish Request Dear VW Bus I wanted to share the details of my VW bus family with and your magazine readers. My dad has a 2006, 1.9 van which we converted together over a period of two months. I have a 2007 1.9 kombi, self converted with a bed, seating and a kitchen pod and my uncle has a T4, 1993, pop top conversion. I enclose a few pictures for you to print please!!! Any stickers to put on our vans? As we here in Ireland cant even enter competitions in the magazine, Boooo! Regards, Carol,…
