VW Bus T4&5+ 79

This is the only magazine dedicated to the late model VW buses from the T4 and T5 on. The magazine acknowledges the evolution of the VW bus and spotlights where this symbol of freedom and adventure has now arrived: the T4 and T5 - taking their rightful place in the family of VW models and carrying on the tradition of quality and innovation that is the ever iconic VW Bus.

The travel and lifestyle articles have proved to be very popular in the magazine since its inception. This month sees the end of our peripatetic triathlete and van dweller Héléne Rossiter’s European odyssey, as she heads for the ferry at Bilbao. It seems only fitting that this issue should see the start of another epic journey. So, I’d like to welcome photographers, Harriet Carpenter and Dan Ingram, who over the next few months will share their year long tour of Australia. Unpromisingly, they start the journey in a Nissan X-Trail! But they soon come to their senses and return to base to convert a T5 specifically for their purposes. In fact, this month sees a double helping of Harriet and Dan as when they returned to the UK, they carried…

round up

Crafter ConversionRoamin’ in The Gloamin’In Issue 77 we featured Steven McClenaghan’s red Crafter, we loved it, and judging by the reaction to it on our Instagram and Facebook pages you loved it too. Already a seasoned selfbuilder, after completing the build, Inverness based Steven realised that he had really enjoyed the process of converting the Crafter. So much so, that he set up the now burgeoning company, Roaming Homes. Able to convert anything from a Caddy to a Crafter (they are also willing to convert other marques too), the process is very much one of building one offs. Normally customers approach Steven and they discuss their needs with him. Between them they decide on the best vehicle, long wheelbase or short, standard height or other, engine size etc. Once the…

out of the blue

Neat blue highlightsPaul and his partner Sam both work in BMW’s paint shop in Oxford, so it was pretty much a given that any van of theirs would end up with a striking paint job. And so it has. Their T5 is a simply gorgeous blue which looks like the sky on a sunny spring morning. But it didn’t start out that way.Paul and Sam had been van owners before, but their previous van - a T4 - had to be sold to fund works on their house. They missed it and as soon as they could they began looking for a new van. The one Paul found on Ebay may not have been everyone’s idea of a dream vehicle. Paul described it as being an “uninspiring dark blue with…

volkspower 10

The seaside town of Redcar, often referred to as the St Tropez of the North, at least by the show coordinators anyway, was home for Volkspower over the weekend of the 13th to the 15th of July 2018. The organisers even offered early bird tickets to anyone who couldn’t wait to get camping, or just wanted to grab the best spots on the Thursday evening. The show was held at Redcar Rugby Club, which is just a thirty-minute walk from Redcar itself. Where you can visit the famous Pacitto’s ice cream parlour and sample a Lemon Top, it’s lemon sorbet on top of vanilla ice cream in case you were wondering and it’s delicious. Also, just five minutes’ walk from the show is a huge stretch of dog friendly, beach,…
