VW Bus T4&5+ No. 81

This is the only magazine dedicated to the late model VW buses from the T4 and T5 on. The magazine acknowledges the evolution of the VW bus and spotlights where this symbol of freedom and adventure has now arrived: the T4 and T5 - taking their rightful place in the family of VW models and carrying on the tradition of quality and innovation that is the ever iconic VW Bus.

The New Year brings with it six new feature buses. They are, in the order they appear: Shaun O’Keeffe’s Reflex silver T6, a van he bought for work that is now an “Unintentional Camper”. Then there’s Simon Perry’s yellow T4, a bus that he has honed and refined to suit his family’s changing needs. Next up is Graham Radnedge of Camper Versions grey T5, a van with hidden talents that become obvious once you step inside. Our fourth feature bus is Andi Harlow’s dual toned number, the culmination of a “life long dream”. This is followed by Jay Garfield of Xtreme Van’s stunning take on a midnight black T5 Kombi, complete with HiLo roof. The final feature bus is another of the growing number of Crafters on the scene, this…

VansnoozerSimple Sleeping SolutionWe get quite a lot of Kickstarter (the crowdfunding platform) products across our desk, most we look at with interest and file for future use, should they get the funding they require. Every now and then one crosses the editorial threshold that really grabs our attention, like the successful SheltaPod from a couple of years ago.Another such product came to our attention a few weeks ago. The Vansnoozer designed by former British Design Award winner, Stephen Saunders, under the guise of his Highway Hammocks concern, looks like a winner. Developed from his already successful Cabsnoozer for truck drivers, it should be of interest to a whole host of Transporter owners, especially those who don’t have a fully kitted out camper and regularly carry tools or equipment in their…

unintentional camper

Vision Leisure Upholstery’s outstanding work Cooking al fresco So when his local body-shop recommended Matt Probert at Highline Campers, he didn’t hesitate to call himShaun O’Keefe had spent twenty years working in a factory for a major UK breakfast cereal company, when he decided that if he had at least ten years’ worth of work in him, then he should at least be doing something he enjoyed. He took an attractive redundancy package when it was offered and started to look about for another way to make a living. Without a real direction in mind he started helping a mate with his gardening business. It was after one particular job that required some tree work that he got his ‘light bulb’ moment. Shaun found he had an aptitude for working with trees,…

beach dubbin’

Beach Buggin’ always used to be one of my favourite shows on the VW scene, so it was sad to learn earlier last year that the organisers had decided enough was enough and that they were going to retire from the scene. Luckily a team of local VW enthusiasts decided they would take over the show. With only a few months notice, they managed to pull it off; to be honest International Rescue, or Challenge Anneka, couldn’t have done a better job.Luckily the great location remained the same - on the seafront at Southsea Common, on the south coast overlooking the Isle of Wight. The main sponsors for the first ever Beach Dubbin’ were JKM Motor Services, Just Kampers and Farmer’s Choice Free Range Food. The date of the show…
