It’s been a year since Scomadi unveiled their new factory in Thailand. A lot’s happened over that time but, if you’re quick, you might just find a Scomadi on the floor of a British showroom. It was last March when Scomadi threw open the doors of their new factory. The new facility, just outside Pattaya, was all ready to gear up for volume production and then Covid hit. Not only were Thais ordered into lockdown but the supply of components was also interrupted. It’s been a difficult time for the Scomadi team but there is finally light at the end of the tunnel. We’d all hoped that the coming season would quickly banish all memories of 2020 to the history books. Sadly things haven’t worked out that way and a number of early events have already been reluctantly cancelled by disappointed organisers. The most high profile of these is the BSRA Scarborough National, which was due to be held over the Easter weekend of April 2-5. The 2020 National at Whitby was an early casualty to Covid last year and any tickets carried forward from that rally will still be honoured for any future BSRA event. It’s that time of year again when scooter racers are eagerly getting ready for the forthcoming BSSO season, which may well encounter a few disruptions like there were in 2020. Time will tell! Having followed rookie racers for the last two seasons once again we can announce another for 2021. This time it’s the turn of Kieran Reece Kearney who will be entering the production class on a Lambretta GP.
