You’ve not ridden Buttertubs Pass?
I’m a lucky man… editor of Scootering magazine and living in the Yorkshire Dales. What more could a man want? There are certain rides and roads which people often travel to search out, but every time I strike up the engine and set out for a ride… I’m already based in one of those idyllic locations. Some might take that for granted, I don’t. One road, however, which I am thoroughly ashamed to say I have never ridden, is Buttertubs Pass. For those who don’t know, this road crosses the high moorland between Wensleydale and Swaledale, from the idyllic market town of Hawes over to the village of Thwaite. Buttertubs Pass featured as the second King of the Mountains climb of the 2014 Grand Depart of the Tour de France. But…
