Who are you?
One of the strange things about editing Scootering is that sometimes I only get to enjoy an article properly when it’s published. So it was with last month’s profile of the young Scottish rider Jay Thomson because I think he answered a question I’ve struggled with for many years, namely: ‘Who is a scooterist?’ Back in the late 1950s and early 60s my dad rode a succession of Lambrettas. It was Dad who supported my efforts to buy a scooter and Dad who taught me the basic spannering skills needed to maintain them, yet he’d never describe himself as a scooterist.
