THE STORIES Behind the Screens This selfie of me, above, was taken last December. I look kinda glam, right? My hair is blown out; my makeup is fresh; I’m wearing a fancy (fake) fur collar. The colored wall behind me makes the picture pop. I could have taken it at a fun restaurant or industry event or maybe on a ski vacation. I look relaxed and happy. In fact, it was taken at the Prospect Avenue subway station in Brooklyn, a much cleaner and more colorful place than it was before its recent renovation. I was feeling grateful that I have a nicer station to wait for the train in, so I took a picture. Sometimes there’s a great moment or message behind an Instagram post; sometimes, none at all. The images we…

the INFLUENCER ISSUE @nikkideroest “This season’s glossy lip creates a healthy, youthful vibe.” “We’ve been wearing bold, matte lipsticks for so long. I’m excited that nourished, shiny lips are back,” says Nikki DeRoest, a celebrity makeup artist and the founder of Róen Beauty. To get the look, DeRoest recommends moisturizing your lips first so they’re plump and flake-free. “Keep a lip mask on your nightstand, so you remember to apply it before bed,” she says. “That way, your lips will be prepped and hydrated when you wake up.” We love squalane-packed Tatcha the Kissu Lip Mask ($28, tatcha.com). In the morning, apply a lip liner that closely matches your lip’s natural color, sketching it slightly outside the natural lip line to create a realistic illusion of fuller lips. Try Victoria Beckham Beauty Lip Definer ($24,…

The actor, producer, and former Miss World hasn’t always cared about her skin. “My mother told me I should, but I was much more focused on makeup as a teenager. I’d wear a full face every day, and I didn’t always take it off before bed,” Priyanka Chopra Jonas says. A lot has changed. “Having good skin is my biggest confidence booster, and washing my face at night is a must,” she says. The cleansing ritual does more than keep her skin clear. “It marks that moment when I don’t have to be on anymore,” she says. Skin care is such a part of Chopra Jonas’s life that she partnered with Obagi to launch its Skinclusion campaign. “Obagi is a brand that tests its formulas on all skin tones. This…
