X SHORE eELECTRIC Be at one with the ocean this summer, without the sound of an engine killing your buzz. The X Shore eElectric is, as you may have guessed, an all-electric boat designed to blend in with its natural environment instead of polluting it with noise and emissions. This Scandinavian-looking day-cruiser was created by Konrad Bergström, founder of Marshall Headphones, who brought in Glenn Karlsson, winner of the Swedish classic boat race Roslagsloppet, to design an energy-saving hull that draws air in under the boat, thereby reducing friction from the water. The eElectric boasts an advanced propulsion system with dual engines and BMW i3 batteries, and delivers a top speed of 25 knots. I usually tend to find myself shopping for new tech at two times of the year: a month or so before Christmas (not coincidentally around Black Friday), when I’m looking for new entertainment to get through the Dark Times from then until February. And then also around summer, even though I’m hoping to spend most of my time outside. Instead of big stuff, like a TV upgrade I 100 per cent do not need, it’s more things like a new, bigger battery pack, a 4K HDR drone, a fancier camera: I’m determined that I can make the relatively few nice days we have even better with extra gear.
