technics sl-1210g

Among DJs and vinyl fans, the Technics SL-1200 has an almost legendary status. Solidly built, efficiently designed and featuring a high-torque direct drive motor, it went on to sell 3 million units and became a staple of clubs and audiophiles’ home setups alike. Although Technics vanished from the scene in 2010 when the brand was temporarily retired, the iconic turntable was soon reborn as the SL-1200G in 2016, which has in turn inspired the new SL-1210G. Coming with a stylish matte black finish, the SL-1210G features an iron-coreless direct drive motor with double rotor/single stator that eliminates cogging and offers powerful torque. Its tonearm is fashioned from cold-drawn magnesium, which has a high damping effect, while its bearings utilise a cut-processed housing to deliver high initial motion sensitivity, offering hyper-accurate…

editor’s letter

Since 1996, T3 has been a valuable ally to many of us, helping us anticipate the innovative tech coming our way. If you’d told me as a fresh-faced graduate I would one day be at the helm, I wouldn’t have believed you. It gives me great pride to work on this title and that’s why it’s been such a pleasure putting together this celebratory bumper issue. More than ever, we’ve crammed this issue full of fun features celebrating the past, present and future of tech. We have our Retro Gizmo Bingo harking back to the tech triumphs of the past, a celebration of the 25 most innovative gadgets available right now, and predictions of the devices we’ll be celebrating on T3’s 50th anniversary. It’s been enormous fun celebrating T3’s silver anniversary with…

1 iPHONE 13 • From £679, apple.com Apple’s four new iPhones don’t look too new – we’re in the ‘hardware refresh’ point of the iPhone cycle rather than the ‘radical redesign’ bit, after all – but they’re absolutely some of the most exciting the company has ever released. From the dinky 5.4-inch iPhone 13 mini all the way up to the big-boy 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max, with the 6.1-inch iPhones 13 and 13 Pro between them, the entire line has been given a bunch of salient upgrades. They each get new batteries with smarter power management, offering between 90 minutes to two-and-a-half hours extra life on a charge. Apple’s newest 5nm smartphone chip, the A15 Bionic, brings six CPU cores, between four and five GPU cores, and a vastly upgraded neural processor…

retro, baby!

OLIVER SPENCER + FILA CHENILLE JACKET Known for his understated designs and use of sustainable fabrics, Oliver Spencer has teamed up with Fila, whose retro chunky trainers have seen a recent resurgence. This jacket is made from soft, ribbed cotton-blend chenille with striped trims. £180, mrporter.com NORTH FACE 1996 RETRO NUPTSE SHELL DOWN GILET Some say the gilet is a timeless piece of fashion; it was certainly ubiquitous in the 1990s and this North Face slim-fit, camouflageprint version has got the look nailed. It’s practical too, with a water-repellent finish, and it packs into its own pocket. £210, mrporter.com A.KJAERBEDE NANCY UNISEX GLASSES While we realise that the summer months have passed us by, we aren’t going to be plunged into darkness quite yet, and these 1970s square shades in dark brown tort are an oversized retro…

best foam rollers

HYPERICE VYPER 3.0 The Vyper 3 vibrating foam roller’s contoured design helps avoid pressure on your spine and other sensitive areas while the three speed settings enable you to crank up the intensity if you require more oomph during your roller sessions. Compatible with the Hyperice App. $199, hyperice.com LULULEMON DOUBLE ROLLER As the name suggests, the Lululemon Double Roller is two foam rollers in one. Use the exterior roller to massage your arms and legs and the interior roller to release tension in your back. The 20-inch rolling surface is great for massaging the whole back and both legs at the same time. £48, lululemon.co.uk THERAGUN WAVE DUO The Theragun Wave Duo is a unique take not just on foam rollers but also on massage balls: the contoured design has two high points that target either…
