razer blade pro 17

Price: £2,399 from Not long ago gaming laptops were big, bulky beasts that were more akin to a portable PC tower than a sexy, sleek laptop. However, companies including Razer have made leaps and bounds in the laptop design department over the past few years and now offer products that are both powerful and sleek. Razer’s Blade Pro 17 is the company’s top-of-the-line 17.3in laptop for gamers, offering desktop-level graphics in a chassis that’s not only 25 percent thinner than its predecessor, but small enough to fit in most 15in laptop bags too. Is it enough to solidify its place among the best gaming laptops available? We think so. Price If you thought the £1,699 starting price of the standard Razer Blade 15 was high, you might wince at the £2,399 starting…

samsung galaxy s10 5g

Price: £1,099 from Samsung just couldn’t afford to miss out on 2019’s raft of Android smartphones with ‘5G’ at the end of its already convoluted S10 product names. Meet the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G. Unlike the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G and Oppo Reno 5G that are physically identical to their 4G versions, the S10 5G is a different phone altogether. It has a larger screen, bigger battery and an extra camera in comparison to the S10+. Does that mean it’s worth the asking price of over a grand or a high-cost contract in the UK? I tested the S10 5G on Vodafone’s sparkly new 5G network to determine whether it’s worth it or whether you should a cheaper, still excellent, regular S10 or S10+. Price The S10 5G is available direct from Samsung for…

xiaomi mi 9t

Price: £293 from The Mi 9T has a lower price and, arguably, a more balanced specification than other Mi 9 models, losing the flagship processor and wireless charging of the standard Mi 9, but retaining its in-display fingerprint sensor and adding a higher-capacity 4,000mAh battery. It uses the same 48Mp triple-lens camera as the Mi 9 SE, but at the front is fitted with a 20Mp pop-up selfie camera that enables a truly full-screen experience on its 6.39in Full-HD+ AMOLED display. Price A rebadged Redmi K20 Pro, the mid-range Mi 9T is now official in Spain, France and Italy, but has not yet been announced in the UK. Xiaomi has not confirmed if or when it will launch here. UK users can get hold of the Mi 9T through GearBest, however, where it…

best gaming laptops

There are plenty of things to consider when looking for a respectable gaming laptop. You’ll need a capable CPU, a graphics chip that is powerful enough to deliver games as their developers intended them, and enough system RAM to keep applications stored in memory. A gaming system should also have a high-capacity and fast storage drive to hold games and other files, a sizeable and decent-resolution screen to view the action on, and a good chassis to bear all these components. Processor From Intel, the seventh-generation Core series processors (codename: Kaby Lake) are well-suited to the CPU task, but the latest eighth-generation chips (codename: Coffee Lake) are even more power efficient while also providing a boost in performance. Many of the laptops here have 8th-generation chips, but going for an older model from…

best gaming headphones

The next great peripherals war is being waged over your ears. After every company on the planet put out a gaming mouse and then a mechanical keyboard, they turned their attention to headsets. So many headsets. We know you don’t want to scroll through every single headset review when all you want is a simple answer: “What’s the best gaming headset I can buy with my hard-earned cash?” This article holds the answers you seek, no matter what your budget is. How we tested We test headsets over the course of a few weeks, and sometimes longer. Much longer, in some cases – I’ve been using a pair of Astro A50s as daily drivers for years now, and stand by their quality and durability. Our rankings are based on the following criteria: Design/comfort: Obviously,…

best gaming mice

The mouse is a simple tool: point and click. That’s it. But if you’re a PC gamer, you know that pushing virtual paper around on your desktop isn’t the same as fragging bots and shooting zombies. (Not even remotely.) What’s more, picking the right gaming mouse is an intensely personal decision. Every little detail – its overall shape and size, the shape and placement its buttons, its cable (or lack thereof), its weight, its materials – can change how you feel about it. More than any other peripheral, a mouse is the hardest to recommend, because there is no objectively perfect mouse. Everyone’s hands are different. That said, we can guide you on your search. Below are our recommendations for gaming mice, built on years of experience. How we test To find our favourites,…
