“THIS LOOSE, cap-sleeved top is ideal for layering,” says Mary Henderson. Its contemporary colourwork pattern was inspired by computer coding, and is worked in five shades of Jamieson & Smith’s Jumper Weight Shetland wool. The front and back ribs are worked separately and then joined to work in the round to the armhole. The garment is then split, with the back and front worked separately with increases at either end of the rows to form the cap sleeves. The front has shallow shaping for the neck. I-cord cast-offs finish the neckline and armholes. wool local collection

Erika Knight launched her new Wool Local yarn earlier this year. We love its soft yet woolly feel, and most of all its Yorkshire roots - from sheep to skein, this Bluefaced Leicester-Masham wool blend is sourced, spun and dyed within a 50-mile radius. To accompany her new yarn, Erika has put together a range of elegantly modern patterns, designed by herself and Emma Wright. ‘Fettle’ is a cropped jacket with concealed pockets, worked edge-to-edge using two strands of yarn held together. ‘Grimshaw’ is a sleeveless top with a softly gathered yoke, and the ‘Brodrick’ cardigan has a long back section featuring asymmetric cable details and deep, open side vents. There’s also a slouchy sweater dress, and ‘Betty’, a long scarf with four lace patterns, which uses just one hank of Wool…
