Be on the panel! Get a sneak preview Appear in the magazine Receive a stitchy gift Cathy Cronin is an accommodation manager from SE Queensland, Australia Fave recent WOXS design? It has to be the ‘Highland Cows’ cuddling from 286 (Nov 2019)! I love it because Highland cows are cute and shaggy, especially the babies. How’d you get into stitching? When I was 15, a local lady started up weekly craft classes. I chose to stitch some simple yellow and orange flowers. This was 32 years ago and I only got my flowers framed earlier this year – I still love them! Proudest stitching moment? When I finished my fifth child’s birth sampler. It took me about three years in between a busy mothering life. Getting it framed and putting it up with the others was a great feeling! Fave themes…

friendship & frolics

Peter Rabbit has been on an Easter egg hunt, but as well as finding two brightly patterned eggs, he’s also found two fluffy yellow ducklings! This mischievous rabbit from Beatrix Potter’s timeless story is one of the best-loved childhood characters of all time, and this is your chance to capture him for yourself in needle and thread. This seasonal scene uses whole cross stitch and backstitch, with just a few fractionals for finer details such as the bee and the duck’s beak. Light blue aida is the ideal fabric to complement the springtime pastel colours, as well as enhancing Peter’s famous blue jacket! The scene has some playful details to enjoy stitching, such as the colourful patterns on the eggs and the cheery daffodil bobbing about in the breeze. This charming project…

Star Letter GUIDING LIGHT Dear WOXS, this is my latest finished project. I designed and stitched it as a thank you for Gill, our County Commissioner in Girlguiding, Caernarfonshire. This is a hugely demanding volunteer role which Gill did with such passion, so we had to have a very special way of saying thank you. The project is a mixture of owl designs from the magazine, slightly customised to give a Girlguiding theme and some of the badges that were designed for events during her time in the role. I always get such great pleasure in designing pictures to reflect people’s personality and interests. Heather Bonnebaigt, Conwy Tina: This is such a sweet and touching gift, Heather. I bet that Gill will be delighted to receive such a personal present. As a former Girl Guide…
