welcome!

Hello to all you lovely Today’s Quilter readers. In case you are wondering why it’s my face here and not Fiona’s, I can reveal the joyous news that she is currently enjoying taking some maternity leave with her new baby boy. I have the privilege of filling in for her while she is away and I wanted to take the opportunity to say how delighted I am to be joining the team. I’ve been working in craft editorial for many years now and during this time I’ve had the pleasure of working with the very talented Lynne Goldworthy on a number of ocassions. And so it seems rather fitting that I am starting out with this issue, which kicks off with her brilliant Bed of Roses quilt! Her clever two-block…

THE BOOK NAUTICAL QUILTS Thanks to Lynette Anderson’s new book, Nautical Quilts, our heads and our to-make-next lists are buzzing with exciting marine-inspired projects to sew. Lynette’s grandfather was in the navy and in this collection she celebrates the myriad of life on the ocean waves – the creatures that live in it and the vessels that sail upon it. Included are projects large and small, from full-sized quilts to wallhangings, from patchwork to embroidery and appliqué. We can’t wait to get stuck in and start making our own. show & tell

Maritime marvel I was very ill during 2019 and I lost my enthusiasm for sewing and quilting, then I saw Lynne Goldsworthy’s Mariner’s Compass pattern from issue 44 of Today’s Quilter and my ‘fire’ was rekindled. I have to say that piecing it together was very quick and easy and I love the finished product, even though it isn’t perfect. It’s now finished and I’m quilting again like before. Thank you to all the team at Today’s Quilter for your inspiration! Cilla Moncrieff, by email We’re delighted that one of our projects helped you get your ‘mojo’ back, Cilla. Quilt to cushion I had some Moda William Morris fabric left over from a quilt I had been asked to make for my friend, Joan, by her husband. Upon seeing Carolyn Forster’s Block of the Month…
