Best known for… Sylvia played Peggy Mitchell’s dressmaker friend Olive Woodhouse in EastEnders between 2007 and 2010. She also memorably starred as Margaret Thatcher in ITV’s Thatcher: The Final Days. Other achievements… Sylvia had a long film career, starring in Ice Cold in Alex, Woman in a Dressing Gown and The Tamarind Seed. In 2006, she played the Queen Mother in The Queen, alongside Dame Helen Mirren. On TV, she also had roles in Peak Practice and At Home with the Braithwaites. Family life… Sylvia died on 27 January, aged 89. She’s survived by her two children, Ben Edney and Poldark actor Beatie Edney.…
