Best known for… Michael starred as Rick Culver (right) on hit sci-fi show The X-Files in 1997 and played General Kerrigan on Stargate SG-1 (2001-02). In 2017, he also appeared as Raul in the fantasy horror series Van Helsing. Other achievements… The Canadian actor had a varied film career, appearing in It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas in 2019, Fantastic Four (2005) and Apollo 18 (2011). He also provided the voice of Beast in X-Men: Evolution (2001-2003). Family life… Michael died on 23 October from a brain tumour, aged 66. THE CROWN From Wednesday 9 November, Netflix Drama Fans of The Crown will remember the first series, set in the 1950s, when Princess Margaret was forbidden from marrying Captain Peter Townsend because he was a divorcé. Now it’s 1992 and Margaret (Lesley Manville) is shocked when Peter (Timothy Dalton) writes out of the blue to say he’ll be at a London ball and would love to see her. As the couple awkwardly meet again, Margaret’s reminded of the love she should have enjoyed. Later, she’s astonished when the Queen seems ready to allow Princess Anne to divorce and marry again.
