Best known for… Sheepskin-coat-wearing legend John ‘Motty’ Motson was the voice of football, working as a commentator on BBC1’s Match of the Day from 1971 until 2018. He was also an analyst on Football Focus, Final Score and MOTD2 and covered 10 World Cups, 10 European Championships and 29 FA Cup finals. Other achievements… His voice was so synonymous with sport that he voiced the role of a commentator in films such as Bend It like Beckham, and Flushed Away and TV series Trying and Footy Pups.
