Holding the lead New ITV drama Holding, based on a novel by Graham Norton, did well on 14 March, with an impressive 3.7m tuning in to watch the Ireland-set show. It beat BBC1’s offering of Tom Daley’s Hell of a Homecoming, which pulled in 1.2m viewers. Travel trouble Joanna Lumley’s Great Cities of the World, the new travelogue show which saw the actor begin with a trip to Paris, struggled on the evening of 17 March, with 2.1m watching. It was beaten by the penultimate episode of The Apprentice on BBC1, which attracted 4.6m.…

Best known for… Peter found fame playing millionaire businessman Richard DeVere in BBC1’s hit sitcom To the Manor Born. The show ran from 1979 until 1981 and was revived for a Christmas special in 2007. Other famous achievements… After roles as 1960s villains in The Avengers and The Saint, during the 1980s and 1990s Peter starred hit series such as The Bounder, The Irish R.M., Lytton’s Diary and Perfect Scoundrels. His last TV role was the Duke of Wellington in ITV’s Victoria from 2016 to 2019. Family life… Peter died aged 85 on 17 March from cancer. He’s survived by his wife Susan and their three children, Guy, Adam and Sasha.…
