BGT beat BBC1 shows Pointless Celebrities and Casualty, which drew 2.3m and 1.9m viewers respectively. DNA drops The second episode of ITV’s DNA Journey, featuring Rula Lenska and Dame Maureen Lipman (both pictured) exploring their roots, on 12 April attracted 1.9m viewers, down from the 2.4m who tuned in for the opener. Best known for… Melanie was best known for playing Mary Flaherty in EastEnders from 1997 to 1999. Mary was related to Pauline Fowler and encountered some of the Fowlers and Beales when they arrived in Ireland to meet their long-lost relatives. She later turned up to live in Walford. Other achievements… She also had roles in Doctors, Casualty and This Way Up and played Lisa Bacchus in crime drama Inspector George Gently. Family life….
