The Coronation LIVE! Sat, from 6am, BBC1, ITV1, Sky News & Sky Showcase Factual Expect an amazing spectacle of pomp and pageantry for the coronation. The King and Queen leave Buckingham Palace in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach for the two-hour ceremony at Westminster Abbey, which will include His Majesty being crowned. A coronation orchestra plays some of King Charles’ specially chosen music while Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber has composed a coronation anthem. Around 2,000 guests are attending, including Prince Harry and the extended Royal Family, foreign royals and dignitaries and members of the public who’ve worked tirelessly for charity and local communities. Afterwards, the royal couple will ride the famous Gold State Coach back through cheering crowds. We’ll also see them wave from the Buckingham Palace balcony before a spectacular RAF fly-past.…

Best known for… Len became a household name as the popular head judge of BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing from its launch in 2004 until 2016. He was famous for his trademark cry of the score, ‘Seven!’ and, ‘It’s a 10 from Len!’ Other achievements… The former professional dancer appeared in Dancing with the Stars, the US version of Strictly, between 2005 and 2022. He also hosted BBC1’s Holiday of My Lifetime and made a surprise appearance in Hollyoaks in 2021. Family life… Len died from bone cancer on 22 April at a hospice in Kent. He was 78 and is survived by his second wife Sue Barrett and his son James.…

Best known for… The Australian comedian was famous for playing eccentric, bespectacled, purple-haired Melbourne housewife Dame Edna Everage (above). The hit comedy talk show The Dame Edna Experience ran for two series in the late 1980s. Other achievements… Barry appeared on the West End stage in the 1960s, most notable in Oliver! In 2008, he was a judge on BBC1 stage talent show I’d Do Anything. He appeared in the films Spice World and Absolutely Fabulous. Family life… Barry died on 22 April, aged 89, following complications from hip-replacement surgery. He’s survived by his fourth wife, Lizzie, and his four children.…

MAGPIE MURDERS Saturday, 9.15pm, BBC1 Drama Editor Susan Ryeland first caught a glimpse of fictional detective Atticus Pünd as she set off to investigate the death of his creator, Alan Conway, and search for the missing last chapter of his latest book. Across the series, which switches between Susan’s life and Atticus’ 1950s world, she saw more of the sleuth, who materialised to offer advice. Now, in an explosive finale, as well as solving the mystery behind Alan’s apparent suicide, Susan (Lesley Manville) sees Atticus solve his own case, which includes Sir Magnus Pye’s death. ‘Atticus knows that he’s fictional,’ says Tim McMullan, who plays him. ‘He tells Susan, “Detectives in my world always solve the crime – this is an immutable truth.” He knows he’s not real!’…
