A Dec We got a lot of feedback after the first series, with people saying, ‘This is hard to watch, it’s nerve-shredding!’ And this year it’s even more so – the contestants are really nervous. We had tears when they got the questions wrong, tears when they got them right, tears for everything! Ant There are a couple of big losses and obviously the contestants are upset by that. Best known for… Ruth was much-loved for playing flirtatious chief yellowcoat Gladys Pugh (right) in BBC1’s hit comedy series Hi-de-Hi! – which ran from 1980 to 1988 – about the fictional 1950s holiday camp Maplins. Other achievements… Ruth appeared in other TV series such as Hunter’s Walk, Big Top and Benidorm, plus movies Fiddler on the Roof and Under Milk Wood. She also starred as the mother of Daffyd Thomas, played by Matt Lucas, in Little Britain sketches. Family life…. Ruth was 79 when she died in hospital on 9 December after surgery for a fall she had earlier that week. She’s survived by her two children, Lowri and Rhys.…
