It beat the opener of BBC1’s I Can See Your Voice, which attracted 3m. Medic misery Tuesday 6 April’s episode of Holby City failed to triumph for BBC1, with just 2.7m watching the medical drama. Best known for … George was nominated for an Oscar for his role in the 1967 film Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? His career spanned six decades and included the film The Owl and the Pussycat in 1971, the disaster movie Rollercoaster and playing a robber in the 1977 film Fun with Dick and Jane. Other achievements… He was also known for TV roles including Jack Gallo in Just Shoot Me! (1997-2003). From 2013 he played Albert ‘Pops’ Solomon in The Goldbergs. Family life…. George died aged 87 on 23 March due to complications from surgery. He is survived by his wife, Sonia, two daughters and three stepchildren.
