Best known for… John is famous for playing Boycie in BBC1 sitcom Only Fools and Horses (1981-2003). He and Sue Holderness, AKA Boycie’s wife Marlene, also starred in the spin-off series The Green Green Grass (2005-2009). Last year, the actor made the documentary Boycie in Belgrade to find out why Only Fools was so popular in Serbia. Other achievements… John also played Monty Staines in ITV’s Benidorm (2015-2018). His character married hotel manager Joyce Temple-Savage (Sherrie Hewson). Family life… John died on 19 September, aged 79, after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his fourth wife Carol.…
