THERE IS A GREAT MOMENT in Zach Baron’s hypnotic profile of Brad Pitt when, during a conversation about the never-ending human project of self-discovery, Pitt references a friend’s current obsession with watches. The gist is that Pitt can tell his friend is obsessing over something external as a way of avoiding something more important that’s going on inside of him.
