welcome to the issue

THERE’S NO DOUBT our relationships have been tested by this pandemic. Whether you’re navigating the politics of socially-distanced dates or locked down with a partner you’ve never spent so much time with, perhaps it’s unsurprising that our report on page 42 shows we’re in the midst of a sex drought. But we’ve also learned the truth about that old adage: distance makes the heart grow fonder. On page 38, four people write love letters to those they’re missing in a moving piece that’s a pertinent reminder that no one can lock down love. And if you too are struggling with loneliness and isolation, join us for one of our Grazia Support Bubble virtual sessions. over to you...

Have your say… Email us at feedback@graziamagazine.co.uk Find us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @GraziaUK REACH OUT TO HELP OUT Your article If you are lonely right now, you are not alone (8 Feb) was a reminder that a lot of people are struggling. Alongside the sometimes severe or fatal physical consequences of Covid, there are the mental health implications. The true breadth of this silent pandemic is unclear. There are the impacts for those with pre-existing mental health problems, and new impacts – economic hardship, loneliness. Getting help is not easy. Zoom sessions are not the same as talking to professionals face to face. As the writer says, a support bubble is a necessity. If we know people are struggling, we need to be there for them. I visit my elderly…

‘i may destroy you’ snub smacks of prejudice

The Golden Globe nominations have been revealed – and the overwhelming response was… disbelief. Awards lists often stir indignation, but this felt different; implausible. Michaela Coel’s I May Destroy You , about consent and the aftermath of rape, wasn’t recognised, despite being one of the most original, ground-breaking series of last year. The world was blown away by Coel’s genius and the nuance and depth of the show. The fact she’s a Black woman raises the depressingly age-old question about whose stories judges value, and is proof that awards shows aren’t always reliable indicators of cultural relevance. If they were, Coel would get every gong going.…

grab your gore-tex! this pandemic fashion trend is official

IT WAS WHEN I found myself deep-googling ‘really very warm fleeces’, less than 24 hours after I’d deep-googled ‘best hiking boots for yomps’ (which led me to a charming website called CotswoldOutdoor. com for the first time in my shopping life, quite a change from Net-A-Porter, let me tell you), which in itself was less than 24 hours after I’d truly understood the point of a double-zip padded jacket (sometimes, you really do need the top half of your torso cosily encased against a forceful wind, while the waist remains open to ventilation!), around about the time I advance-texted a friend to warn her she’d deffers need a midweight beanie for our walk (though probably only wrist-warmers, as opposed to the full glove) that I understood I had, quite unconsciously,…

chart of lust

1. New in ANDRÉA, CALL MY AGENT We could write poetry in honour of this woman’s nose! Feel joy regarding season four landing on Netflix, yet also pre-emptive grief, because it’s the last one! 2. Up TOM OR PAUL? The new series of Celebs Go Dating hits (with Covidappropriate limitations, in the form of a mansion) and we once more contemplate the ultimate lust dilemma: Paul or Tom? Tom? Or Paul? 3. New in THE MR TUMBLE SCANDAL Mr T’s co-star, Sarah-Jane Honeywell, recently revealed she was ‘hurt’ when she got ‘frozen out’ by the CBeebies icon, after a 2016 topless shoot (which inspired the tabloid headline: CBoobies). 4. Up JENNIFER CONNELLY Season two of the unlikely but compelling Snowpiercer arrives on Netflix, thereby a) giving us another precious telly option and b) allowing us to marvel at JC’s profile. 5. Up ASHLEY…

what’s new now! keeping us going now!

wax lyrical I don’t wear much make-up so, when I find something I like, I tend to rave about it. Brow Freeze is a wax that lifts your brows all day long. I’ve used it on repeat – it does exactly as promised. £23, Anastasia Beverly Hills LOVE NOTES The shirt brand loved by Meghan Markle is spreading joy with bespoke embroidery notes on the back of collars. Like a love letter you can enjoy on a daily basis. From £35, With Nothing Underneath CLASSIC POP Flownn’s latest offering, Odyssey, is the artist’s third single to be released during lockdown. Unapologetically pop-tastic, trust me when I say you’ll be happy to have it stuck in your head all day long. Available from 12 February HAIR RAISING No, I haven’t been away, or popped to the hairdresser, in months. But…
