NINA FLOHR 3D-printed-hotel pioneer, p. 156 “IN MARCH, I VISITED VANA WELLNESS RETREAT IN NORTHERN INDIA, AT THE FOOTHILLS OF THE HIMALAYAS. IT’S THE MOST HARMONIOUS SPOT FOR RECENTERING BODY, MIND, AND SOUL—I CAN JUST STOP AND PRESS PAUSE THERE.” FINN WOLFHARD Actor on the move, p. 152 “Recently, I persuaded a few friends to skip work and come with me to Lynn Canyon, a beautiful mountain-glacier creek about 45 minutes from Vancouver, where you can swim in the cold water, surrounded by thick forest. It was freeing—and one of the best days ever.” ROCCO FORTE International hotelier, p. 51 “Every year my family and I spend the summer at our home in the Tuscan countryside—but I especially loved going there when I was cycling a lot. AND SO, REFLECTING BACK on a year in my traveling life and a few of my favorite things. A boiled egg in the breakfast room at Le Bristol Paris, yolk as yellow as dawn, napkins stiff as boards. The smell of Le Bristol Paris. Gardenia or tuberose, I’m not sure what. The sound New York makes before everyone is up, its stereo tremor. A walk on the Long Mynd in rural England, looking for kestrels’ nests, the big sky dome of it, the wild ponies, the briars that scratch my legs. Swimming in the bay of St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, the water like a velvet blanket scythed apart by my hands; seeking sea urchins, anticipating their sweet-briny softness, wearing my metal gloves, carrying my knife. Washing the dirt off my face in a…

THE HIGH-ENERGY CAPITAL IS KNOWN FOR ITS FOLK ART AND GRAND ARCHITECTURE. NOW MODERN DESIGN AND HOMEGROWN FASHION BRING A NEW EDGE TRADITIONAL CRAFTS Of all the markets in Mexico City, Mercado de Artesanias La Ciudadela is by far the easiest to navigate. Known for traditional folk art, it has every type of souvenir you could imagine, from loom-woven blouses to painted ceramics and even ex-voto paintings, some of which date back to the 1600s. While locals may scoff at the prices, which tend to be slightly higher, the general ambience—calm and friendly—coupled with the quality of the craftsmanship, more than makes up for it. BEAUTY Arriving at Xinú can feel like crossing into another world—not surprising, considering the space was imagined by two of Mexico’s most innovative interior designers, Héctor Esrawe and…
