growing pains

As a teenager, I’ve never really thought much about the effort my parents put into making sure our home was not just a conducive place for living in, but a safe space where my brothers and I could grow up in as well. It wasn’t until I started hanging out at my classmates’ homes that I discovered how privileged I’d been. Way ahead of her time, my mother knew that her three sons needed their own space to express ourselves during those formative years. written in stone

Staying true to its design philosophy, Hermes unveiled a small collection of handmade wares at the recent Milan Design Week. They ranged from woven baskets with leather trims to bedlinen lined with gold threads and the Lignage d’Hermes stone table, hewn from a single slab of bluestone. Conceived with Bijoy Jain, founder of Studio Mumbai, the low table features a solid stone construction with straight lines extending from the centre and down the sides. Its simplified silhouette draws attention to the sensual texture of the material, while the hand-carved lines showcase the intricate relationship between the artist and the medium. When placed in the living room, its quiet presence is captivating and awe-inspiring. The Lignage d’Hermes stone table is available from www.hermes.com/sg/en; price upon enquiry. posidonia green

When it comes to soothing hues, few evoke an atmosphere as calming as that of a muted pastel green. Closely associated with nature, this colour has always been the go-to colour of choice for homeowners looking to bring the outdoors in. Aside from the ocean, Posidonia Green is also reminiscent of olive fruits, laden heavy with oil and ripening on twisted branches, representing the best of what mother nature has to offer. As with many popular colours of the season, we are seeing this green in a toned-down version, with…
