welcome!

“In soap, you can’t escape your history” Soap history is a great thing, isn’t it? The fact that characters have such dramatic, eventful pasts which can be drawn on to create brand-new stories – stories that add another layer to the character, which can later be drawn on to create yet another new story! Take this week, as Corrie sees Shona’s woes increase 10-fold when little Max’s grandma returns to cause trouble. Meanwhile, David is confronted by Josh, who almost destroyed his whole life. Both these blasts from the past will take David and Shona to new places, as well as create a whole new set of stories for the characters around them. Meanwhile, whether it’s Emmerdale, where Moira’s turbulent past few years have brought her to an ill-judged affair, or EastEnders,…

robert & aaron on the run!

Robert and Aaron pack up and flee Emmerdale this week – following the shock death of Victoria’s rapist Lee Posner. Having pleaded guilty to the assault on Lee, Robert has come to terms with spending some time behind bars, away from Aaron and the family he loves. But when Lee dies of his injuries in hospital, Robert’s world turns upside down. Now, he’s not looking at a few years, he’s looking at a life sentence for murder! “Robert is a self-confessed killer and the police are coming for him,” reveals our Dales insider. “Victoria gets a call to say that Lee is dead, and she rushes over to tell Robert and Aaron. It’s horrendous for everyone because they know that this will likely mean life in prison. Suddenly, the future they’ve all…

whit’s disaster date!

Whitney steps up her romance with mysterious Leo this week, although their attempts to get cosy while at E20 are interrupted when Whit’s ex Callum turns up with his own date – Ben! Ever since Whitney returned from her ‘honeymoon’, she’s been determined to make a whole new start, put the past behind her, and move on from Callum. So as she bumps into her holiday fling Leo in the café, and he asks her out for a drink, she’s keen to accept. Unfortunately, at that moment, Callum turns up – prompting Whitney to change her mind, and she makes a hasty exit. “It’s only been six weeks since Whitney’s world came tumbling down, so it’s hardly surprising that she’s still feeling such a mixture of emotions,” reckons our Walford source. “Even…

should callum date ben?

YES 56% “They bring out the best in each other,” reckons reader Hanna McKinney. “Callum can see the good in Ben, while Ben reminds Callum that it’s okay to be himself. They balance each other beautifully!” Reader Emma Whymark is also enthusiastic: “Opposites attract!” she says. “Callum will bring back Ben’s nice side. Maybe this new love will be the making of him…” NO 44% “Ben is a bad person – I don’t like him,” grumps reader Eddie J Main. “Callum was better suited to Whitney!” Meanwhile, reader Max Talbot is also unconvinced that this new romance will end up going the distance, suggesting that Ben is still grieving for his murdered lover. “I don’t think Callum can ever replace Paul,” he says. Looks as though the jury is still out……

shona’s battle for max!

All hell breaks loose at the Platt house this week, after Shona and Sarah return from birthday drinks in the Rovers to find Max and Lily rowing over the telly – and when Sarah’s son Harry ends up knocked unconscious in the resulting melee, Shona immediately blames Max. But it soon transpires she’s judged the situation wrongly, prompting a furious run-in with Max’s grandma Marion – who declares the lad will be better off living with her! “Max has been pushing Shona to the limit for weeks,” sighs our Weatherfield spy. “So it’s no wonder she points the finger in his direction when Harry is injured. With David in prison and Gail in Thailand, Shona has found herself being pulled in all directions as she tries to take care of Max…

face from the past

Not surprisingly, David is gutted when Shona tells him Marion’s plans for Max. But his day goes from bad to worse after he walks into the medical wing and runs into Josh, bruised and bloodied, and waiting for treatment. David hasn’t laid eyes on his rapist since the day he bundled him into a car and drove him to the police station, demanding he confess. After his cowardly abuser begged for mercy, however, David let Josh go free, and he hasn’t seen him since. Badly shaken, David goes back to his cell, where his new mate Abe tells him how Josh is inside for drugging and raping someone. David admits Josh did the same to him – so how will he cope with having Josh in such close proximity? “Josh can’t play the…
