One of the absolute thrills of being an editor in chief is working with women you love and admire. There’s no better place to honor them than on our magazine’s cover, and so I’m delighted to feature Nicole Kidman this month I’ve known of Nicole longer than most. As a fifth-grader in 1983, I went to the première of one of her first films, BMX Bandits, and won a pair of Pac-Man sneakers in a raffle (I’m finally trading them in for some sparkly boots). Over time, we’ve become friends, which is why it’s so wonderful to see her mark yet another big moment in a career full of them with the massive success of Big Little Lies, the HBO series she stars in and co-produced. Nicole gives her all to her…

RUNWAY INSPIRATION Fashion- and beauty-wise, our Nashville set had everything Nicole Kidman could ask for. But one key ingredient was MIA from the craft-service table: Vegemite. A jar of the Australian food spread was supposed to play a supporting role in an Aussie-themed video at the end of our shoot; however, the condiment hadn’t made it through airport security with our team. Thankfully, Kidman knew exactly where to find more—her house. She made a quick call and the shoot carried on, with Kidman posing outside Peter Nappi’s boutique in her favorite piece of the day, a Calvin Klein coat straight from the fall runway. Then, a black Bugatti sports car sped up to the storefront. Out hopped Keith Urban, holding a Vegemite jar with his wife’s name on it (a personalized…

Y oushouldbereallygrateful you’renotcatching me when I’ve had a full night of sleep,” Zoey Deutch says, by way of introduction. “Because you would be so exhausted!” Due to her electric personality and machine-gun diction, the 22-year-old actress is often called a spark plug, but it might be more accurate to describe her as a nuclear reactor. Wrapped in an oversize camel coat from Max Mara at Milan’s Mandarin Oriental hotel shortly after attending the label’s fall runway show, she bounces between the topics of fashion, film, family, and even her irrational fears (don’t get her started on revolving doors) with an impressive exuberance. “Whenpeople tellme I have a lot of energy, I usually feel bad for them, but then they only have to spend a certain amount of time with me,” Deutch says…
