happy holidays!

Hey Yana, what’s been happening for you in MAXIM land since we last saw you gracing the October cover? “I THINK THE FINAL RESULT IS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING.” Well, a few months ago there was an amazing MAXIM HOT 100 party in Sydney which celebrated your annual list of Australia’s finest women. I actually placed at No.20 which is a great result and made me very happy. So thank you, MAXIM! This is new shoot is pretty cool. Tell us a bit about it. Thank you. The shoot itself was outstanding and the location was in the sunny Central Coast of NSW. And although we actually shot this during a cold winter week, we were really lucky to have great weather on the day. The atmosphere was so friendly and I think the final result…

unique possessions

AMERICAN POWER Harley-Davidson is among the most iconic brands in America, but that hasn’t led the company to rest on its laurels. The recent addition to its lineup is the Fat Boy 114, starting just north of $28,990. For this price, riders get a 114-cubic-inch Big Twin engine attached to a six-speed cruise drive for smooth gearshifts. The new two-wheeler continues the Fat Boy tradition, offering a comfortable ride for long adventures while maintaining the power, noise, and attitude one has come to expect from the king of the road. Yet no one wants to pull up next to an identical bike at a stoplight, and that’s where the Germans come in. Rick’s Motorcycles in Baden-Baden, Germany, is one of the world’s top Harley dealers and customisers. Its variation of the…

angry t63

A lot can be accomplished in 350 hours. One can engage in a major Netflix binge, become skilled in latte art, or grow a millennial-approved beard. Switzerland-based custom shop Angry Motors spent that time building their version of the BMW R80 motorbike. As self-confessed minimalists, the workshop was only looking to fit parts that were absolutely essential to their endgame, and so a 1989 BMW R80 T63 was chosen for its iconic boxer engine and effective rear mono-shock. A Megaphone exhaust helps the 800cc boxer breathe; and the bike also gains Bing carbs, and a Motogadget speedo. Doing their stealthy best, Angry Motors powder-coated the frame, spray painted the motor in black char and rebuilt the thing with all new seals and stainless bolts (all black of course). A custom rear end…

rolls-royce apparition

Is this another autonomous wonder, or does that steering wheel on the outside actually work? Called the Rolls-Royce Apparition, it was created by design student Jeremy Westerlund while studying at the Art Centre College of Design in Los Angeles, California. This is not an official Rolls-Royce concept, nor is it ever heading for production and the streets — but it may just create a new Uber category. Westerlund captures many classic Rolls design elements together with modern lines, managing to make his creation both intriguing and sleek, so you just can’t look away. Measuring over seven metres in length, the evil-looking boat hull stretches 1.2 metres longer than a Rolls-Royce Phantom. Since most Rolls-Royces are the length of a small boat anyway, the realism of this design isn’t such a, er,…

oh mann

At its best, photography allows the artist to transport his audience to wherever he can carry his camera. Some destinations are so remote, or so dangerous, that photography is perhaps the only medium through which others can learn about those places and experience them vicariously. This is why the world needs people like Andy Mann. Scratch that: The world needs Andy Mann. If some people go to extremes to get the perfect shot, Mann seems to go beyond them. Growing up in rural Virginia, the 38-year-old Mann didn’t find his calling until 2003, when he moved to Colorado and discovered rock climbing. He began hanging out with now-famous adventure photographers like Keith Ladzinski and Cory Richards, and the group sustained its mountain-based habits by selling photos to niche magazines, and eventually…
