ABOUT TOWN Sweeping guests expeditiously around the world of design in just one afternoon, Focus Global, distributor of premium designer living labels, in collaboration with Philippine Tatler Traveller, took a global theme celebrating holiday cheer in their brand new hub addressed at Twenty-four Seven McKinley. The intimate ladies luncheon event ushered participants through each of the four showroom floors. First, guests were led to the Ethan Allen showroom, where they previewed the American brand’s interactive website. At the next floor they were given a preview of the B&B Italia’s state-of-the-art spaces. Proceeding to the 11th floor, the latest bathroom accessories of the luxury German brands Villeroy & Boch and Dornbracht were showcased followed by the kitchen showrooms of Siematic, Sub Zero/ Wolf and Miele. ABOUT TOWN The Gallery at The Peninsula Manila was filled with national artists, luminaries, and dignitaries as Marivic Rufino held her 18th solo exhibition Luminescence – Dreamscapes 2016. A feast for the senses, the visual artist showcased meditative, dreamy paintings of nature and light that evoke images of future and past memories. The exhibition was a collaboration of words and art as poems written by the National Artist Virgilio Almario and translated by poet Marne Kilates complemented the artworks. Kilates also presented her own lyrical poem to match Rufino’s Bird of Paradise. Her soft practical collection exuded a play of colours with one-ofa-kind screen dividers, lamps, and furniture. A portion of the show’s proceeds went to benefit the Child Protection Network.…

ABOUT TOWN American global kitchen brands Subzero and Wolf celebrated a momentous milestone as they commemorated their 70th anniversary. As a tandem, the two brands have raised the bar on food and wine preservation, cooking, and kitchen design to near perfection. Their newest showroom at Twenty-four Seven McKinley, an ultra luxe design hub, became venue to a remarkable evening of wine appreciation. Highlighted during the event were five topnotch wines, namely, Nicolas Feuillatte Brut blanc de Blanc, Josseph Drouhin-Puligny-Montrachet, Château Palmer-Alter Ego, Clarendelle by Haut-Brion Rosé, and Clarendelle by Haut-Brion Amberwine, that were complemented by the delicious creations of the chef Cyrille Soenen of Brasserie CiÇou and Impressions Restaurant. ABOUT TOWN An exclusive epicurean event immersed the respected chef Gaggan Anand of the eponymous and global award-winning restaurant in Bangkok, to Philippine dining culture in collaboration with Gallery Vask. An invitation-only demo was held at the Gaggenau Kitchen showroom where the chef (and Gaggenau brand ambassador) showcased his culinary prowess. Known for his progressive techniques in creating Indian cuisine, Gaggan demonstrated some of his signatures dishes such as Yogurt Explosion, The Nut Bag, and Charcoal and Mango Snowball, to an audience of foodies. He confessed to bringing only spices from India while most of the ingredients were sourced right here in the Philippines. The following days featured a 15-course tasting menu dinner and a brunch, in collaboration with Vask’s chef Chele Gonzales, that showcased the integration of two varied cultures.…

ABOUT TOWN Another Italian luxury home label opened its doors to the anticipating Filipino public recently at its 200-square-metre showroom in Bonifacio Global City. Milan-based Rimadesio showcases its modern designs, integrating minimalist style and pure materials such as glass, to create functionally innovative pieces. Its dapper new showroom is found at the ground floor of a stylish building designed by the architect Ed Calma. Cutting the ribbon were Rimadesio CEO and owner, David Malberti, the Italian Ambassador Massimo Roscigno and the Italian Consul General, Antonio Gallo, who enjoyed a spread of Italian delicacies created by the chef Florabel Co-Yatco especially for the launch. The global label aims to redefine the Philippine design and architectural scene with its classic and timeless designs.…
