very versace

The client wanted the ultimate in luxury - a home decked out from top to bottom in every minute detail in designer Versace style…the outcome… nothing short of stunning! Walking into this home, the sheer opulence that surrounds you is almost overwhelming. When considering the extreme attention to detail that has gone into every aspect of the fit-out, it’s surprising to hear that the project only took eighteen months to complete. Many elements of the home required more than one tradesman to complete the process, therefore each craftsman involved in the project was required to be highly skilled and at the top of his game in order to execute their trade to Michael’s exacting standards. Michael’s personal involvement in the project have ensured that from the hand-painted ceilings that give the apartment…

contemporary & cover worthy

Where once stood a single storey home, similar in design to those found on many suburban Monterey streets, now stands a striking three level family home that’s as individual as its owners. This stunning property chosen for the cover of this year’s Sydney Custom Homes, was awarded joint winner of the NSW Excellence in Housing Award for Best Design & Construct House$1 Million—$2 Million in 2014 and it’s easy to see why. Every facet of this stunning new residence was meticulously designed and managed by Tecton Group. This included everything from the initial architectural design brief, council submissions, and completion of construction, to the complete interior design of the home - right down to sourcing of the lighting, furniture, bed linen and ornaments. Every square centimetre of the land was utilised, from…

a vibrant beauty

From the front of this new home in Ramsgate Beach it’s difficult to conceive the large family home that exists behind the façade. Clever use of the land, that was once home to a single storey fibro cottage, means that a spacious home with alfresco, swimming pool, and outbuilding now sits comfortablyon the block, with room to spare. The brief provided by this young couple was to have a home that reflected their vibrant personalities. They wanted ostentatious entertaining spaces that would wow their frequent guests yet were also practical for day to day living. This was certainly achieved within the expansive open –plan living area which easily flows from kitchen, to dining, to living room and features a stunning open-treat staircase in the centre. At the far end, the oversized…

resort-style living

Built on five acres, this resort-style home in Dural by Gremmo Homes exemplifies the Australian lifestyle incorporating extensive external living areas into a stunning contemporary design. Working with leading landscape designer Dean Herald of Rolling Stone Landscapes, and Jeremy McCulla from Urban Harmony Design, Gremmo Homes developed a floorplan that integrated the pool, landscaping and alfresco areas beautifully with the interior of the home. From an arial perspective the expansiveness of the home and the complexity of the design are clearly apparent. Strategic planting, use of timber and stone cladding and a warm grey render on the exterior add warmth to the contemporary angular lines of the design. The incredible connection with the outdoors is immediately evident from the minute you enter the home and are struck by the water feature that connects…

curvaceous style

The owners of this site in Sydney’s North West wanted to create a home that was consistent with the architectural character of the area whilst adding aesthetic elements that would stand it apart from neighbouring homes. Working closely with the architect, a unique contemporary design was developed for a home over nine separate floor levels that worked with the natural slope of the site and ensured that the home sat gracefully in the streetscape. On the front façade of the home Alpine stone cladding and Blackbutt timber screening have been used to add texture and warmth to the smooth rendered walls. A mature native Narrowleaf Bottle Tree was added to the landscaping to provide a connection with the home and the natural environment. At the centre of the home is one of…
