NEW DRAMA The Irishman From Wednesday 27 Nov, Netflix Put Hollywood legends Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino together and the resulting movie is bound to be special. That’s certainly the case with real-life gangster drama The Irishman, an epic tale of loyalty and friendship, violence and betrayal, which spans six decades, runs almost three-and-a-half hours, and also sees Joe Pesci and Harvey Keitel reunite with director Scorsese. Taxi Driver (1976) ‘You talkin’ to me?’ Obsessed with saving Jodie Foster’s child prostitute, De Niro’s troubled Vietnam veteran-turned-vigilante Travis Bickle is cinema’s ultimate portrait of urban alienation. Raging Bull (1981) An Oscar-winning De Niro famously put on more than 4st to portray American boxer Jake LaMotta’s downward slide from champion to becoming a stand-up comedian and sleazy nightclub MC. The King of Comedy (1983) ‘Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime!’ De Niro gives a skin-crawling performance as talentless wannabe comedian Rupert Pupkin, prepared to go to desperate lengths for a shot at…
