Sharyn Cairns PHOTOGRAPHER A longtime Vogue Living contributor, Cairns felt privileged to capture the images of her hometown seen throughout this issue. “With a thriving art scene, we met so many talented creatives showcasing their work and homes,” she says, “but taking performance artists The Huxleys to the streets of Fitzroy was definitely a highlight. They confidently strutted their lighting-bolt outfits to many admiring head turns.” The photographer finds inspiration in “beautiful light. Whether it’s a moment of sunshine hitting an object, a memorable scene from a film, a mood board or a fleeting dramatic sky, it makes me want to re-create the emotions it imbues”. She’s equally inspired by the subtle charms of her city. “The laneways that lead to cool secret bars, unique shops and striking street art. The…

The model-musician pairing of Victoria’s Secret Angel LILY ALDRIDGE and Kings of Leon rocker CALEB FOLLOWILL may be textbook, but the interiors of their Nashville family home are anything but. Designed by PIERCE & WARD, the charming house offers a blend of 1930s TUDOR REVIVAL architecture and ENGLISH COTTAGE and MOROCCAN RIAD influences. For more great home content, like styling advice from Gwyneth Paltrow’s interior designer and a peek inside Michael Kors’ New York penthouse, visit VOGUELIVING.COM.AU. editor’s letter

Melbourne has always excited me. It’s a city of sometimes contradictory layers, from the glamour and clamour of Cup Days and Grand Finals to the unassuming chic of its independent galleries and laneway bars. It’s impossible not to get caught up in the electricity of the city when you’re there. This summer, we’re celebrating all our unofficial cultural capital has to offer. From the refined and renowned darlings of the dining scene to emerging artists and entertainers, we peel back the city layer by layer to reveal Melbourne’s myriad hidden and not-so-hidden charms. This issue would not have been possible without the passion of two extraordinary Melbourne women — our Melbourne editor and features writer Annemarie Kiely and respected interiors photographer Sharyn Cairns. These two passionate Melburnians have taken us on…

perfect catch

For Vincenzo De Cotiis, “touch is as important as sight”, and his aptly named Tactile armchair is a case in point. Despite its 1970s vibe, the armchair was launched only two years ago by Italian brand Baxter at Salone del Mobile. De Cotiis — whose spectacular Milan apartment was featured in Vogue Living around the same time — once said he gets “pleasure from simple things”. Tactile is upholstered in only the most buttery of leathers and the options run the gamut of 66 delectable hues and patterns. Reminiscent of the protective padding used in high-impact sports, or the puffer jacket worn by fans, this chair is a giant baseball glove waiting to clutch you in its palm. In yellow — or Nabuck Saffron — it looks particularly sporty, so we moved it…
