Gerry Cupido geraldine.cupido@inl.co.za South African comedian and television host Trevor Noah has filed a lawsuit against an orthopaedic surgeon Dr Riley Williams III, and the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City over alleged botched surgery. The lawsuit which was filed by Justin Blitz of Schulman Blitz LLP states that The Daily Show host suffered from “serious personal injury” which is “permanent, severe and grievous”, and that the accused failed “to prescribe proper medications” as well as failing to “discontinue certain prescription medications”. The doctor is also accused of failing “to use proper tests and examinations in order to diagnose the conditions from which Noah” was suffering”. The dead teen allegedly belonged to the Playboys gang. It is alleged that he and two friends went to a house in Citrus Street at midnight where they wanted to smoke drugs, when the owner refused to let them in. Around 3am gunshots were heard and his body was found with gunshot wounds to the front and back of the head, neck and face. Police spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi said the circumstances surrounding a murder that occurred at a residence were under investigation. Rafieka Williams rafieka.williams@inl.co.za THREE men accused of murder and attempted murder following a mass shooting in Mandalay have appeared in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court. Moegamat Hartzenberg, Jonathan Witbooi and Marawaan Sofaar face one count of murder and seven counts of attempted murder. The three men appeared in court for a bail application where the State was ready to proceed and intended to oppose bail. However, at the last minute the three men abandoned their bail application and instead opted to forgo bail proceedings. The application was dropped because two of the men have pending convictions against them in the same court relating to the illegal possession of firearms. Hartzenberg had also given the court a false name on his pending convictions. The accused had allegedly orchestrated a mass shooting…
