‘For every minute you are angry you lose 60 seconds of happiness,’ said the 19th-century American author Ralph Waldo Emerson; a simple yet remarkably striking observation that has just stopped me feeling irked by an unimportant matter, on a day when the sun is shining and the sky is blue. In an era of ceaseless digital communication, sometimes it helps to pause for a moment, and opt for more leisurely enjoyments. Certainly, the August edition of Bazaar tends to be one in which we allow ourselves to dream; and this issue is true to that tradition.
